Xtians: is this acceptable?
As you may be aware, the Air Force recently created an outdoor "worship space" at the Air Force Academy in Colorado. It's basically a stone circle at the top of a hill where Wiccans, Pagans and other "earth-centred" religions can perform ceremonies.
So this morning it's being reported that overnight someone went to this stone circle and erected a wooden cross in the centre of it. How do you react to this? How should the Air Force handle it? If they catch the person(s) responsible, what should happen to him/them?
Thanks in advance.

Squishy: I saw the story about the cross on the lunch-time news.
That is completely unacceptable, but to be expected. A friend of mine owns a shop about an hour away that caters to all faiths. She happens to be Wiccan so of course her stock is Wicca-heavy. She gets BOMB THREATS. She's had people try to burn her store to the ground in the past. Some people are simply intolerant of ANY faith other than their own. Those of us in the smaller faiths are, sadly, quite used to it and simply sigh, cleanse the area, reconsecrate and go about our business.
Despite the history of forced christianization in my homeland I spoke out loudly and strongly against the church arsons there and still won't speak to some people because of it. Why? Because even though I am a Nordic Heathen and we don't forgive, I have placed my own sense of honor and right and wrong before my feelings about a christian church on Skadi's soil. Any christian with any honor would be equally outraged at this desecration of worship space of another faith as I was about the church burnings in Norway. I know there's plenty of the honorable ones out there too, they just tend to be rather quiet.
Edit: Whatever the penalty is for defacing a church for civilians should be faced by those responsible if caught and they are civilians. If they are AF - they should face court martial, period. The military does not need nor want dishonorable people in its midst, especially now. What would they do once deployed, start defacing mosques? Not good.
