10 Money Making Tips - Everything You Needed to Know to Make Money in Todays Market
Here are my weekly money savings tips:
1. Maintain a good credit score! It will save you thousands of dollars in the short and long term when you need to borrow money to buy a car or a home. Creditors will give you an interest rate and the loan amount based on your income and credit score.
2. Large sums of money should NEVER be left in a checking account or even a low-interest bank savings account. Rather, put the money into a high interest savings account (like an ING savings), money market fund, or other forms of short term high interest investments with a fixed return.
3. If you have an employer matching 401K plan, maximize your contributions, so that you double your money!
4. Set aside 10% of your paycheck towards some form of long term savings account, like a money market account, mutual fund, retirement plan, or 401K. As you pay amount increases, your contribution will also increase automatically. 10% will also ensure that you stay ahead of inflation.
5. One of the best investments you can make is to first pay off all your high credit card debts. Credit cards typically carry a high interest rate and by paying off these debts, you get one of the best returns available which also is tax-free.
6. If you are losing sleep over an investment, whether its a stock, mutual fund, or retirement plan, its not worth it! Your lack of sleep is probably a good indication that it may be too risky, too good to be true, or just not the right invesment for you.
7. If an investment is projecting returns that are just too good to be true, they probably are. Unless you are intimately involved in the investment or are an insider, an investment that sounds too good to be true is probably too ambitious, too risky or just a scam.
8. Before you invest in something, always do your own research. Consulting with others and getting a second opinion is good, but you need to investigate for yourself. The internet is typically the best source for lots of information but make sure you read enough or get relevant data.
9. Always negotiate for commissions or fees paid for financial or real estate advice. Don’t be misled by standard commissions and “non-negotiable fees”. It is your money and the experts work for you.
10. Can’t get out of debt? If you are having problems meeting your debt payments each month and feel like you are digging a deeper hole, go talk to your creditors and banks to find a solution to get out of the mess. Beware of debt consolidators as they could charge higher interests in the long term and get you even deeper into debt.

How can I get my money back from overdraft?
Recently I put money order in Bank of America and it took them one week to let me use it.I thought the money is on my account so I've used card 5 times when it turned out there was no money just yet.Now BOA is charging me 35 dollars for each overdraft which makes $ 175!!!Is there a way I can get that money back?Or at least some of it?I really can not afford to give that kind of amount to the bank!
The short answer is that you can't get the money back because the fine print on your paperwork from when you opened the account said they would charge you $35 per overdraft transaction.
However, that isn't the end of it. I suggest that you go into your branch and ask to talk to someone who can assist with a problem on your account (don't just talk to the teller at the counter). Explain the situation. Tell them you simply made a mistake by loosing track of your balance, and you made 5 transactions before you realized it. Tell them you think its only fair to be charged for 1 overdraft fee, since it was only one occurrence where your account was overdrawn (5 transactions in the same period of overdrawn balance). Point out your history of having an account in good standing. Ask to have them reduce the fee to just $35 (the amount of one overdraft charge). You think this is reasonable since it was only one time that the account was overdrawn. Plus tell them you are disappointed that their system would allow you to continue using your bank card even after your account was in the red. They will resist at first, but be firm about what you want, and threaten to close your account and move to another bank. Banks are in high competition for customers these days and most banks will wave a fee to keep a customer. If they don't, then be prepared to close your account right there on the spot.
Above all else, be polite. If you go in screaming and cussing, you won't get anywhere, they may even call the cops and say you were a threat to the safety of the bank. If you are polite but firm about what you expect in the way of customer service, you are far more likely to get the fee reduced. Also, dressing nice (like a job interview) can't hurt your cause, this will make you look like a responsible person who is trying to take responsibility for a mistake. If you dress like a thug, then you look like an irresponsible thug who is just whining about the fees.

Multi-Pure Water Guardian Drinking Water System Model - MPADC List Price: $165.00 Sale Price: $224.95 Average Rating: ![]() |
|
System has a solid carbon block filter that is considered to be the most effective method for reducing a wide range of contaminants of health concern, which may be present in the water. The carbon is compacted into a dense structure, causing every molecule of water to be forced through microscopic pores of carbon, effectively reducing pollutants. The Solid Carbon Block Filter is a replaceable cartridge designed so that it can be easily changed. Some additional advantages of the Solid Carbon Block Filter are that it does not waste water, there is no electricity required, it does not remove essential trace minerals that are beneficial to good health, it does not add salt or silver to the water; and it provides fresh, delicious, healthy drinking water. Multi-Pure is the only company that manufactures the filters for the 21 drinking water treatment devices certified by NSF under Standard No. 53 and No. 42 to reduce the widest range of contaminants. NSF International is an independent, not-for-profit organization that develops and adopts voluntary consensus standards and testing programs for home water treatment systems. The Rockford Files - Season Three List Price: $39.98 Sale Price: $24.00 Used From: $28.03 Average Rating: ![]() |
|
Much like his trusty Pontiac Firebird, The Rockford Files was a particularly well-oiled machine by the third year. Everything was clicking into place, from the writing to the acting (writer/producer David Chase went on to create The Sopranos). Despite a terrific supporting cast, James Garner was always the main draw, and he received an Emmy for the series during year three (1976-1977). Considering that the show was carefully pitched between drama and comedy, it was well deserved as Garner excelled at both. Notable episodes include "Feeding Frenzy," in which Rockford returns stolen loot for a client; "Drought at Indian Head River," in which informant Angel (Stuart Margolin) reinvents himself as a real estate developer; and "Rattler's Class of '63," in which Angel ties the knot. Among the guest stars are such hip cats as Blazing Saddles's Cleavon Little ("Sticks and Stones May Break Your Bones...") and Cool Hand Luke's Strother Martin ("The Trees, the Bees, and T.T. Flowers"). Ned Beatty also drops by as a buddy from Korea ("Return to the 38th Parallel"), while R&B legend Isaac Hayes returns as prison pal Gandy Fitch ("Just Another Polish Wedding"). As usual, there are plenty of good lines, like Robert Loggia's "I expect him to tell me the truth. If he doesn't, he's gonna end up in the flower business--as a soil additive" ("Drought at Indian Head River") and Garner's "Stop batting your eyes like that or you're gonna get a muscle spasm" ("Return to the 38th Parallel"). The best part about season three is simply that it adds depth to Rockford's relationships with the four people most important to him: Angel, dad Rocky (Noah Beery Jr.), detective Becker (Joe Santos), and attorney Beth (Gretchen Corbett). The only extra feature is "Quickie Nirvana," an episode from the fourth season. --Kathleen C. Fennessy Private detective and ex-con Jim Rockford solves cases and confronts corrupt officials in Los Angeles. |
