owl pagan

To the JWs of the Owlheati mantra.... ?
you are aware that owls are the pagan symbol of wisdom, right?

I mean as long as you're going pagan, let's see some crosses!
)
awww conundrum... we get called pagan all day long lol.. if that's picking on people, then quit picking on me
God did indeed create all things - including Satan - you want that for an avatar?
God created pagans too
Seriously, though... the owl is a big part of the occult.
*flies in* *lands on Blessed's head* *pecks*
Oh please, why don't you go pester the Mormons and their duck avatars? Or could it be that you are attempting to use our avatars as an excuse to restart the whole debate on the pagan origins of the cross and certain religious holidays?
You've failed to establish any causality whatsoever between our choosing of owl avatars and ancient Pagan rights. You have no idea why we chose them; therefore, as many here have already agreed, your assertions are laughable.
ex: the Pagan adoption of owls DID NOT CAUSE us to choose them as our avatars.
However....causality has most definitely been established between the REASON for the adoption of the cross symbol and pagan sun god worship.
ex: the Pagan origins of the cross symbol, along with a need to appease Pagans and grow the church, DID CAUSE its adoption in the 4th century
“These crosses were used as symbols of the Babylonian sun-god, [See book], and are first seen on a coin of Julius Cæsar, 100-44 B.C., and then on a coin struck by Cæsar’s heir (Augustus), 20 B.C. On the coins of Constantine the most frequent symbol is [See book]; but the same symbol is used without the surrounding circle, and with the four equal arms vertical and horizontal; and this was the symbol specially venerated as the ‘Solar Wheel’. It should be stated that Constantine was a sun-god worshipper, and would not enter the ‘Church’ till some quarter of a century after the legend of his having seen such a cross in the heavens.”—The Companion Bible, Appendix No. 162; see also The Non-Christian Cross, pp. 133-141.
Dean Burgon, in his Letters from Rome, wrote: “I question whether a cross occurs on any Christian monument of the first four centuries.” Mons Perret, who spent fourteen years doing research in the catacombs of Rome, counted in all a total of 11,000 inscriptions among the millions of tombs. According to him, “not until the latter years of the fourth century does the sign of the cross appear.” Among the signs that do appear are the dove, a symbol of the holy spirit; the lyre, a symbol of joy; the anchor, a symbol of hope and the fish.
The Encyclopædia Britannica, Vol. 7, of edition 11, page 506, says: ‘It was not till the time of Constantine that the cross was publicly used as the symbol of the Christian religion.'
Honestly, even if we got rid of our owls, you would just find something else to complain about.
So then, we don't really give a hoot what you say. Find a sense of humor, and learn to take a joke.
